Balboa Birthday Bash

The Balboa Theatre in San Francisco will celebrate its 86th Birthday on Sunday, March 4 - and a night at the movies during the silent film era is the order of the day.

Inspired by Hugo, the evening will start with a shorts program including films by Georges Méliès, followed by Harold Lloyd's silent classic Safety Last!, with a 35mm print directly from his granddaughter Suzanne. Live piano accompaniment will be provided by Frederick Hodges. Other activities are also planned. Come in your best Jazz Age duds! Birthday prizes for everyone!

The Balboa’s 86th birthday celebration – presented in association with the San Francisco Silent Film Festival – takes place on Sunday, March 4th. The evening’s entertainment starts at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:45 pm.

More info and tickets at the Balboa website (www.BalboaMovies.com) and on SFGate.
